update 1.8


This is a big content update and we're hyped to show off what's in store in this update!

MAJOR STUFF

  • Circuits and assemblers: 
    •  Assemblers are now here! Every few waves, an assembler will enter the arena. These neat contraptions allow you to craft the modules of (almost) your choice with circuits.
    • Circuits are a brand new pickup, occasionally gained from killing enemies as well as scrapping modules you don't want. If you do well enough, you have a chance to grab 3 free circuits every wave.
  • NEW ENEMIES:
    • Leaper - very mobile, very annoying explosive artillery unit. Will make sure to bombard you and make you dance. If chased, it will leap away and slowly turn the arena into a minefield. Have fun with this one
    • Turret - can attach to asteroids... and far worse things. Unleashes a projectile barrage when it sees you, learn its patterns or be sad.
  • NEW WEAPONS:
    • Electromagnetic Bolt - a mighty ballista that culls the weak and impales the strong with a satisfying DINK. The bigger they are the harder they fall, as each bolt stuck in the same unit boosts the size and power of the inevitable EMP blast to finish off the target, and its surrounding area.
    • Antimatter Shotgun - absolutely deadly in close quarters, it fires powerful shells that rebound off targets. You can load up a few shots and instantly blast them all in the face of that railer you hate. Just make sure that there is no shield between it and you...
  • NEW MODULES:
    • Carborundum Spikes - if you excel at getting hit, pick these up. Every time you take damage, these will launch homing spikes that aggressively seek out targets. Not to mention they boost your resistance to melee damage, explosions and more. Invest now!
    • Hard Light Drill Shield - turns your drill from a meat shield into just a shield. But then puts the meat back into the drill as bonus health. If this is too confusing, just know that it reflects many many things that would have killed you already if you didn't have it.
    • Drone Bay Rework - your drone friends have evolved from gnawing on enemy ankles and now have different jobs: Laser drones do what you would expect, Defence drones turn close projectiles into energy and Cripple drones keep gnawing until your enemies are slowed and take double damage. They will carry your ass.
  • NEW TRACK! Check it out on the bandcamp, youtube channel or in-game

BALANCE CHANGES + QOL:

  • Wave progression changed. Because you can now invest unneeded modules into future good modules, you will be getting less modules overall. This is a good change. Early game has been smoothed out to compensate, and the new modules will definitely help you consistently get far. Enjoy.
  • The game is now using a better compiler and should run a lot smoother. It can be a bit unpredictable though so If there are any crashes contact us on Discord.
  • ENEMY:
    • Trailer health increased but top speed decreased. As long as you bonk them with the drill you should be safe.
    • Reaper missile speed decreased. What more do I say, enjoy
    • All energy bullet damage is now 8, but are more dodgeable. Scribbers will hurt you if you let them live. 
  • WEP:
    • Missile physics changed to be more fun. Missiles now plow through weak enemies and asteroids when upgraded. Missile fans rejoice.
    • Bouncer buff bouncer buff
  • MODULE:
    • Antimatter Shield now charged up by excess energy but at higher rate
    • Binisium Refiner now charges Anitmatter Shield passively

GRAPHICS, SOUNDS:

  • Huge audiovisual improvements across the board
  • Sector I has a background now!
  • Weapons and active modules are now shown on the ship. You will look more ridiculous as the run goes on
  • New asteroid sprites
  • Different radar indicators for different module crates

MISC:

  • Added G????? E??????
