BIG update 1.6


After 4 months of hiatus this project has been revived

This is the biggest update yet because we've been working on it for the last month

BIG BIG STUFF:

  • Weapons are now modules too! You can collect them and upgrade them just like everything else. Green weapons are the most powerful available... or so we think
    • You can only hold up to 2 weapons at a time instead of the previous rotation of 3, but you can now also choose your starting weapon
    • Weapon crates spawn every 3 waves and contain more white weapon modules as the game progresses
  • New weapon: PMG (Plasma Machinegun) - rapid shots with good single target and crowd control potential, but hungry for energy
  • New enemy: Spectre - equipped with a PMG of its own it blinks around you spraying and praying
  • Keybinds menu - for the settings lovers out there
  • New track, more is to come
  • Experimental passive for the green magnet module - pushes away enemy projectiles
    • All modules will eventually get unique passive effects at green rank - the current exponential scaling is a placeholder for the more interesting and engaging effects that we have planned
  • Better death screen with tips and more stats. You will see it a lot
  • First-time tutorial tor newcomers to teach the basics

BALANCE UPDATES:

  • Enemies spawn slower the more are on the screen - and faster the less there are
  • Scribber sprite is now bigger making it easier to hit
  • Trailer damage and acceleration nerfed, health 110 -> 100
  • Reaper health 150 -> 130
  • Asteroid minimum size to hit ships and missiles is now bigger - you will only be hit by the 2 biggest asteroid sizes
  • Bouncer's initial rank nerfed - previous bouncer is equivalent to rank 2
  • Missile contact damage buff
  • Explosions ignore iframes, can only hit once
  • Drone damage 2 -> 3
    • Drones now ignore iframes
  • Health module base health 10 -> 5
  • Regular enemy bullet damage 8 -> 5
  • Drill damage 3 > 4
  • Energy yield from asteroids increased
  • Out of combat energy regen increased

GRAPHICS UPDATES:

  • Background objects added for Sector 1
  • Barrier now extends into the third dimension
  • Radar has been unpixelated for clarity
  • Health and energy bar HUD revamped for better visibility and style
  • Various enemies have animated thrusters
  • New scribber sprites
  • Reaper gets animation for shooting rocket

MISC:

  • many bugs fixed
  • module ranks now have names
  • waves revised a bit
